The burdens become lighter

May 23, 2021 – DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista congratulated The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Philippines in celebration of their 60th year in the Philippines, a milestone occasion immortalized by the unveiling of The First Vision statue.

He said that The First Vision was the beginning of the noble work of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, both in faith and humanitarian service in the Philippines.

He also said that over the years, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has become a vital partner of the government in reaching out poor and needy families in the country as demonstrated by the various humanitarian efforts conducted such as emergency response during disasters, immunization, medical missions and donation drives, among others.

He also said that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has also greatly contributed to the country’s COVID-19 response with their generous donations of Personal Protective Equipment to various Local Government Units. As the country’s lead agency in social protection, Bautista said that DSWD is one with the Church in the objective in the realm of faith in order to provide service to mankind, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity.

He said that the DSWD is also privileged in working with the Church in promoting the Filipino family. He also expressed his gratitude for the Church’s notable contribution to the community, including sharing their resources to promote the programs and projects for the family.

“Delivering services is a challenge because of the pandemic, but because of partners like you, the burden becomes lighter for us in the government. Indeed, by working together, we can hurdle all obstacles,” he concluded.
