#Miracle

A miracle is something not explicable by natural or scientific laws. But then, how do you explain it? How does it happen? Who or what is behind it?

The feel good movie I have just watched, MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN based on true events and written by Christy Beam made me conclude that everything is a miracle, letting us know that God is here, with us, always.

Anabel Bean, a ten year old Texan girl has been sick, been brought to Boston Children's Hospital for treatment but failed, and sent back home. While at home playing with her siblings, she fall at the hole of the 30 feet tree, and survived. After the fall, both her stomach and intestines were functioning normally as if her central nervous system has been regenerated or reset.

The doctor called it SPONTANEOUS REMISSION just to explain what medical science can't be explained.

On a conversation with her parents, Anabel said she sort of talking to God on that fall experience, but it was different. They are talking to each other without saying any words. And that God told her, she would be healed. Isn't it a miracle?

Sometimes when bad things happen, we tend to lose faith, got angry because of unanswered prayers. We question God why is it happening to us and ultimately doubt His existence. Everyday we should and must have a leap of faith that everything will all come to pass and God is with us, always because nothing is impossible for those who believe...

What is hotter than summer?

 HOT STORY of the week:

Should I need to post this? When I woke up last Tuesday, itong ISELCO-2 bill na ito ang tumambad sa akin. Shock and awe! Because... my average monthly bill is 700. Minsan nga 400 lang.

But these past 2 months, bigla namang taas. My May bill was P1,000. Yun pa lang nagulat ako, kasi first time ko mag-bill ng isang libo.

Since the shutdown of ABS-CBN last year, wala na akong TV. And, this year, yung aquarium ko tinanggalan ko na ng pump. I turned the ref, off na rin. Wala akong aircon.

Ulitin ko, it was a Shock and Awe Tuesday for me when I received my electric bill of almost P1,800. Almost triple from my average monthly bill.

And, I decided not to pay yet, kasi pinag-uusapan pa naman ito sa Sangguniang Panlalawigan, sakaling ma-resolve ang issue...

Pancit in Aloha

Unleash the pancit craving in me! Now at Aloha Panciteria, fronting the Isabela Provincial Capitol for a late afternoon Pancit Cabagan self-.treat..

Summer's solstice same day in 5 years

I think the summer solstice of the same day occurs every five years. I had this post in my FB Memories five years ago on summer solstice - the longest day of the year..

So this is summer solstice huh? Time check, Philippine Standard time, it's 2 minutes before 7:00pm. But it seems 6:00pm or earlier, still bright, except at the northeastern skies. Ito daw ang pinakamahabang araw this year. Instead of equal 12 hours each, mas mahaba ang araw today. The least we can do now is to enjoy this scientific phenomenon.

Let go of past secrets

My hunger for fresh-themed Young Adult novel has just been satiated. First time to read a full novel that happens in less than 24 hours, interspersed with color-coded flashback narratives…

I’m referring to the novel, I HAVE LOST MY WAY by Gayle Forman, the same author who brought If I Stay to the big screen. A heartbreaking novel of losing love, finding love, and the redeeming power that together, we can find what we needed.

A story illustrating the beauty of friendship of Freya, Nathaniel and Harun, three stranger teens destined to weave unexpected connections. The novel speaks to anyone who has ever left alone and abandoned in this chaotic world…and, how they let go of their past secrets. I have a good cry towards the end…

Kakaiyak talaga, I can feel the realistic pain of Nathaniel, as in I can ponder how difficult life can be in isolation. Kung may pinagdaanan ka these days, hwag mo muna siyang basahin.

Turks

Pero ang daming pumipila for their orders. After a few minutes of waiting natapos din. Binigyan nya ako ng isa, take out.

Here at home, I unwrapped and took a bite. To my surprise, ang sarap pala. Yung mixture ng tamis at kunting kagat ng anghang ay perfect for my taste buds. Yon pala ang TURKS.Lesson Learned: Don’t judge a thing or even a person, until you’re into it.

A Covenant Responsibility to our Ancestors

I’ve been working for this pedigree chart and family search history for a very long time now because this is my covenant responsibility so that our ancestors who have gone before us may have the opportunity to receive saving ordinances. I believe that families last forever and that connections with family members are irreplaceable. A family is composed not just of members who are still living, but also of people who are part of one’s full ancestry, like grandparents, forefathers, predecessors and those who’ve gone before us. Family history is a great way to connect with all generations of our family.

This is a joyous and fulfilling, task yet also a tedious one. I wish to go further up to as many details of my ancestors, but I need much help. I can’t do it alone. So I ask all my cousins and relatives in Cebu in my mother’s side, as well as all my cousins and relatives in Negros Occidental/Oriental in my father’s side to please help me with this.

For my father’s side, I listed LEON LAURAN as a grandfather. And you may have noticed that I stopped there because I have no further details. Kung kinsa man tong akong mga relatives diha nga nakaila sa amahan ug inahan sa akong apohan nga si Leon Lauran, ug duna’y mga detalye sama sa Birthdate, birthplace ug petsa sa ilang pagkamatay, please let me know, para ma-update na nako ang pedigree chart.

Sa parte sa akong apohan nga si Dulcisisima Gabayan Olasiman, thanks to my cousin from Negros who is a member of the Church, because she provided much of the details.

Now, in my mother’s side, it would have been easier if I have been there in Cebu because I know exactly their burial sites and I could easily get the details. But still, I need help.

I heard that there are Church members from Toledo City who belong to the Encarguez clan, and they are working with the ancestry records of the Encarguez’ of Carmelo.

If I have known this before, dunay unta ko’y nailhan sa Cebu nga maayo kaayo to siya manubay ug mga paryentes ba.

Seriously, I need your help with this. Now that the Church has been building temples in the world, it’s now time to hasten the work for our ancestors. In the Philippines, there are two operating temples – one in Manila and one in Cebu. One temple in Urdaneta, Pangasinan is now under construction. amidst the pandemic. And there have been announcements from Church leaders that more temples will be built – one in Greater Manila Area, another in Cagayan de Oro City and another temple in Davao City. Having temples built in these cities all over the world gives more members of the Church the opportunity to participate genealogical history and perform saving ordinances for our ancestors.

Boxed-Set

I just can’t believe that you are mine now. What more can I say? -O-O~

Pagburnayan

They call this place “pagburnayan” or camarins where earthenwares called “burnay” are fashioned to its desired shape.

One’s tour to Vigan wouldn’t be complete without visiting this place and grab miniature versions of jars as souvenirs here at Ruby Pottery owned by Fidel Go who has been awarded by the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts in 1990 as the National Folk Artist for his exceptional skill and ingenuity in the traditional craft of jar making.

On reflective mode, burnay making is comparable to the Savior, the Master Potter, crafting man according to His perfect plan.

Snippets of Magat Dam

October 1, 2011 BC (Before COVID-19)  – Life is not meant to be at a serious level all the time.

Heavenly Father put us here on earth so we must learn our way back to Him and most of all, to have joy. And to have joy is to enjoy life. Disasters, calamities and health crisis cause harm, but somehow in a way, we can still learn lessons from them, and that there are #beautifuldisasters if we only learn to appreciate – the bayanihan spirit, resiliency and the bond it brings to families, friends and communities in order to bounce back and start life anew.

Sharing here some never before seen  #kabaliwan #crazines#madness , wild and free, raw and unedited video snippet – while we were still on the same boarding house in the City of Cauayan some ten years back.  Memories that will forever be cherished while we are still in sojourn in this beautiful life. Life is short and nobody knows what will happen next. People sometimes lie – the truth he is speaking today may be denied and twisted tomorrow. We find it hard to trust some people anymore because of their inconsistencies, lies and betrayal. But with real friends, you are sure that you are in good company.

At the height of Tropical Storm Quiel on 2011, the three of us from the City of Cauayan (Kurt, Muy and I) headed to the Magat High Rise Dam in Ramon, Isabela via Kurt’s motorbike to feed our curiosity how it was like to be up close and personal, viewing 7-gates of Magat Dam being opened. Magat Dam’s critical level is up to 193 meters, and due to heavy rains still pouring along Magat Dam watershed areas that time, the floodwaters were still coming in, thus the dam couldn’t contain the volume. The water inflow must be released, and that several gates of the dam must be opened. And to satisfy our curiosity how water outflows from Magat Dam being released, here we went to the area. We stopped imagining as we saw those waters rose several meters high like the crossing of the Red Sea by Moses with the Israelites, leaving behind Egyptian armies on chariots chasing the chosen race.

So that’s it! That’s how crazy we might become as we enjoy and live up to the moment, because as we all knew it, life is short. I-enjoy lang ang buhay.

DISCLAIMER: The pathway leading to the dam was closed and its main gate was in chains and tightly secured. We didn’t break any rules and protocols. We were actually very far from the dam itself. We immediately left the place after the sight-seeing and few shoots.
